How to Sleep The Right Way
After completing my final semester of school. I finally have the time to rest, relax, and nap. Even if you are not a student, sleep is a very important aspect of your health. If you are lacking sleep you are more likely: to be moody, have an increased chance of acne, and to develop an illness. So, you can see why I am pushing this so bad.
Even during the semester, while working two jobs, I was lacking sleep some nights and had to work on 5 sometimes 6 hours a night. Once I got off work, I would opt to take a 15-minute nap just to replenish the sleep I lost the night before and I could continue my day no problem.
Some of you may have insomnia or sleep apnea and I get it. Take my advice and seek information elsewhere for these conditions. If that means you have to get a prescription or get a CPAP machine(or update it), then do that. Once you have confirmed with your doctor for these conditions, feel free to take my advice and apply it to your regular routine. I can't guarantee it will work right away, but I can say that with time and patience it will get better.
One additional tip I will add is that your sheets and your mattress play a huge role in you getting your best nights sleep, as well as, what time you go to bed. You know your body best. So, when your body begins to feel tired that is a good time for you to prepare for bed, but you don't have to go to bed just yet. I would suggest you go to bed after about an hour of preparing for bed. If you can afford it, you should replace your mattress every 7-10 years. However, before you replace it, be sure to flip your mattress every few months. This can extend the lifespan of your mattress and ensure your best nights sleep. https://www.today.com/video/how-often-should-you-replace-your-mattress-today-anchors-say-1155621955803
Replacing your sheets are important too. I just replaced my sheets last week and I have never slept better. They are silky smooth and give me all of the comfort that I need to get my best nights sleep. I will add that you can feel free to replace your pillows too, but you can choose to do that if you want. If your pillows have lost their shape, you can throw them in the dryer with some tennis balls or leave them out in the sun.
Aside from the individual parts of your bed, be sure that your room is nice and cool. Feel free to wear socks while you sleep too (Trust me it works!). The coolness of the air relaxes your body and prepares you for sleep. And wearing socks to bed warms your feet to prepare your body for sleep, plus other health benefits. https://www.today.com/health/wearing-socks-bed-ok-actually-good-you-t108395
