How To Own Summer Like A Pro
Can you feel the heat yet? It's summer! And it is only going to get hotter from this point forward. July, in my opinion, always seems to be the hottest month out of the year. If you have not made any summer plans yet or you haven't made the most of your summer, I am about to teach you how to own it...like a pro.
First of all, in order to own summer like a pro, you have to fill in the empty spaces of time with activities. Something that you enjoy doing. This could be binge-watching your favorite Netflix show or riding your bike around the neighborhood/park or getting your tan on in your own backyard. It doesn't matter. There are 24 hours in a day and at least 8-12 of those hours should be spent occupying your time with something or nothing.
- Consider picking up a hobby. This could be going to Target just to scape the place for some cool items, driving all over town with the windows down and your music all the way up, settling down with a good book. If you have a good number of hobbies to keep you busy, you will have no reason to be bored.
- Do some housework or redecorating. I know housework sounds really unappealing, but if you have some jams, a podcast, or an audiobook going, it will feel like a party for a good hour. Go into any room in your living space. Do you like the way it looks? If you don't consider adding some decorative pieces or rearranging some furniture. Trust me, you will enjoy it afterward.
- Netflix or Hulu! I have both, but some may have one or the other. I live by a schedule so I typically give myself maybe an hour to two hours of screen time. If I go more than that then I have to go study or occupy myself with some other task. Whichever service you use, feel free to wear your birthday suit or comfy clothes and just sit on the couch and binge!
- Spend time with your friends and family. They are there for you whenever you need them, why not video chat or go visit them every once in a while. You may have had a friend or family member that cross your mind. That could be your mind telling you to check up on them. Give them a few minutes of your time.
- Take a mini-vacation. Don't take a whole vacation unless you want to. You don't even have to go far. Get out of your city for a day or two and go somewhere you haven't been before. There are endless places you can go. You only need a map.
- Write. No, I am not asking you to write me a short story or essay, but I am sure there are some journals laying around your house, or apartment, that would love to be written in. If you need some ideas on what to put in them, check out my Writing and Journaling page on Pinterest: https://pin.it/hrxgdaf75rwzts. Don't write because you have to, but write because you have the right to and because you are smart individuals with big ideas.
- Sleep. I know all of you love naps. So, if you have a minute or 10 or 15 just cuddle up on your couch or bed and just pass out. It's good for you, why not take the opportunity to do your body some good and let the clock roll on.
